Privacy notice

How JTK Motors handles website enquiries, vehicle information and analytics, and how to exercise your data protection rights.

Updated 6 September 2026

Who handles your information

JTK Motors is responsible for the customer information collected through jtkmotors.ie. Our branches are at Youghal Road, Curraheen Commons, Dungarvan, Co. Waterford, X35 XT71, and Mayfield, Lismore, Co. Waterford, P51 HR59. You can contact us about privacy at [email protected].

Information you give us

When you enquire, we collect your name, email address, phone number, preferred branch and message. A workshop request may include the service, registration, mileage, preferred appointment date and time, and how you would like us to contact you. A vehicle enquiry identifies the advertised car and whether you want to ask a question, arrange a viewing or request a reservation.

If you include a trade-in or offer your car for sale, we also collect its registration, specifications, mileage, condition and your confirmation that it belongs to you. Finance preferences can include a deposit and preferred term. These forms do not collect a full credit application. Please do not send PPS numbers, bank details, payslips or copies of identification through them.

Registration lookup and manual vehicle details

When you ask us to find your vehicle, the registration is sent to MotorCheck to retrieve vehicle information. We save the details you confirm with the enquiry. If you enter the vehicle details yourself, that information is labelled as customer supplied so staff can check it with you.

A registration lookup identifies a vehicle. It does not establish your identity or ownership, provide an automatic purchase price or amount to a full vehicle history check. We keep lookup responses and security records separately from public stock information.

Why we process it

  • Responding and making arrangements: we use your details to answer you, discuss a sale or repair, prepare a quote and arrange the next step. Where you are considering a purchase or service, this is necessary to take steps at your request before a contract, or to perform a contract.
  • General correspondence and customer care: our legitimate interests include responding to questions, keeping a record of what was agreed and resolving issues. We consider the effect of this processing on your rights.
  • Security: we use network information, verification tokens and hashed request identifiers to protect forms, staff access and paid registration lookups. Our legitimate interest is preventing misuse and keeping the service reliable.
  • Legal requirements: where a transaction or dispute requires records to be kept, we process the relevant information to comply with legal obligations or establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
  • Basic website counts: we keep daily totals of page requests and received enquiries to understand demand and maintain the website. Page totals record the page and a broad referring-website group without cookies, visitor IDs, IP addresses or form contents. They operate regardless of the optional analytics choice. Our legitimate interest is understanding and improving the service while avoiding individual visitor tracking in these counts.
  • Optional analytics: with your consent, Google Analytics and Umami provide additional website-use and enquiry-event reporting. You can decline or withdraw this separately from sending an enquiry.

Sending an enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing. This website does not make automated credit, purchase or vehicle valuation decisions. Staff follow up on your request; any lender application is a separate process with its own information requirements.

Who receives the information

Authorised JTK staff use the enquiry system. Our website support provider, Everblue Digital, may access records when needed to maintain the service or investigate an issue. We use Hetzner for hosting, Cloudflare for website delivery, security and media storage, MotorCheck for requested vehicle lookups, and Postmark for enquiry emails. Office email notifications can include a PDF copy of your enquiry.

If you agree to analytics, Google receives website activity information through GA4, and our hosted Umami service receives page and event information. We exclude form messages, contact details, registrations, enquiry references and URL query strings from the analytics events we configure. We do not use advertising pixels, Google Signals or session recordings on this site.

Some providers operate internationally and may process information outside the European Economic Area. The applicable provider arrangements determine the countries and safeguards, such as an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses. Contact us for information about the arrangements relevant to your request. Provider information is available from Cloudflare, Postmark and Google.

How long information is kept

We keep enquiry records for as long as they are needed to respond and complete any resulting work or transaction. After that, the relevant criteria are customer-care needs, records of agreed work, applicable accounting or legal duties and any unresolved complaint or claim. An enquiry may also remain in office email or a backup until that copy is removed under its own retention process. Contact the branch handling your enquiry if you want to know whether a particular record is still needed.

Anonymous daily page totals are kept for about two years. Your optional analytics choice expires after 180 days. GA4 event-level reporting data currently uses a two-month retention setting; Google may retain aggregated reports and some user-level data for longer under the property's settings. Umami reports are retained to compare website performance over time and are available only to authorised users. See the cookie policy for browser storage details.

Your rights and choices

You may ask for access to your personal data, correction, deletion, restriction or portability, and you may object where processing is based on legitimate interests. Which rights apply depends on the processing and the circumstances. We may need enough information to confirm that a request concerns your own data.

You can withdraw optional analytics consent using Cookie settings on any page. Basic website counts continue. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal. If you do not provide the contact or vehicle details needed for an enquiry, we may be unable to answer it or arrange the requested service, but you can still browse the site or call a branch.

You can raise a concern with Ireland's Data Protection Commission. Its guidance on your rights explains the options available.
