Difficulty selecting gears, slipping or unusual transmission noise deserves a closer look. Contact JTK to discuss gearbox inspection, repair or replacement.
Request an appointmentJTK offers gearbox diagnostics, repairs, rebuilds and replacement. Inspection helps establish whether individual components can be repaired or whether more extensive work is needed.
Difficulty selecting a gear, a delayed response, slipping or a new noise can require different checks. Tell the workshop whether the vehicle is manual or automatic, which gears are affected and whether the issue changes after the vehicle warms up.
Include previous gearbox, clutch or transmission-fluid work. A dashboard warning or an existing diagnostic report can help explain the concern, but an inspection may still be needed to confirm the cause.
The condition of the gearbox and the availability of suitable components influence the options. A leak or an individual component fault does not automatically mean the complete gearbox needs replacing.
Ask the team to explain the proposed scope, which parts are involved and what further assessment is needed before a price can be confirmed. Let them know if the vehicle is needed for daily work so the practical arrangements can be discussed.
Difficulty selecting a gear can involve the clutch, linkage or another part of the drive system. An automatic transmission may need a different investigation from a manual. Tell the workshop which type is fitted and whether the symptoms happen from cold, after warming up or under particular driving conditions.
Bring any diagnostic report and details of recent fluid or clutch work. If a gear is unavailable, the vehicle slips or drive is lost, explain that when contacting the team so suitable arrangements can be discussed.
The useful comparison is the scope of the job: investigation, parts, labour, fluids, installation and any testing or setup that applies. Ask which elements are confirmed and which depend on opening or inspecting the unit. A fluid service is not a substitute for diagnosing a mechanical or control fault.
If replacement is proposed, clarify whether the unit is new, used or reconditioned, what its terms cover and whether any related issue must be addressed at the same time. JTK can discuss those options once the vehicle and findings are known.
Tell us whether the vehicle is manual or automatic, which gears are affected and whether the problem changes when the engine warms up. Include details of previous transmission work.
The branch will confirm the work and a suitable time with you. Sending a request does not book a workshop slot.
Contact the branch with the registration, transmission type and symptoms. The team can discuss the vehicle, the checks required and whether repair or replacement work is appropriate.
Do not assume a fluid service will resolve a mechanical or control-system fault. The symptoms need assessment, and any fluid work must be appropriate to that transmission.
It can have more than one cause. Tell the workshop about clutch pedal changes as well as gear-selection problems so both can be considered during the investigation.
Choose your branch and tell us what you need. Vehicle details are optional if you don’t have them to hand.
Get a warning light or running problem checked before deciding on the repair.
